Terobosan teknologi hasil karya anak muda Indonesia tak ada habisnya. Terbaru, hasil riset lima pelajar di SMKN 1 Glagah, Banyuwangi akan diuji coba oleh pihak Pemkab Banyuwangi. Ide cemerlang mereka itu adalah membuat alat penyiraman lahan pertanian/tanaman secara otomatis melalui kontrol dari smartphone. "Luar biasa pengembangan teman-teman pelajar. Saya sudah meminta ke Dinas Pertanian untuk memanfaatkan teknologi mereka. Perlu diuji coba misalnya untuk merawat berbagai komoditas tanaman hortikultura di kawasan Agro Wisata Tamansuruh. Dan bertahap bisa diproduksi dan dimanfaatkan oleh kelompok-kelompok tani di Banyuwangi," ujar Bupati Banyuwangi Abdullah Azwar Anas saat bertemu dengan para pelajar tersebut, Rabu (26/6).
Terdapat dua alat, yaitu Sistem Irigasi Otomatis Tenaga Matahari (Singo Tangar) dan Bagaskara. Singo Tangar digunakan untuk penyiraman pada taman atau green house (lahan skala kecil untuk budidaya tanaman), sementara Bagaskara untuk lahan pertanian yang luas. Oka Bayu Pratama, salah seorang pelajar pengembang teknologi itu, mengatakan bahwa awalnya dia dan teman-temannya melihat halaman rumput di sekolah yang selalu mengering saat kemarau. "Lalu muncul ide membuat penyiram tanaman bertenaga surya. Kan Indonesia tiap hari sinarnya terik, kenapa tidak kita manfaatkan," ujarnya sambil memeragakan alat tersebut.
Oka dan kawan-kawan menggeluti berbagai instrumen untuk merancang alat canggih tersebut selama lebih dari dua bulan. "Kami ingin menciptakan alat yang menghemat waktu, tenaga, biaya," ujar pelajar Jurusan Teknik Komputer Jaringan tersebut. Memanfaatkan sinar matahari guna mengubah energi anas menjadi listrik merupakan keunikan alat ini. Dari listrik disimpan ke accu, lalu digunakan menghidupkan pompa dan microcontroler yang dilengkapi sensor pembaca kelembapan tanah. "Misalnya data kelembapan terdeteksi sekian persen, mesin akan menyiram secara otomatis. Nah, jika kelembaban telah mencapai titik tertentu, misalnya 52 persen, mesin berhenti otomatis. Jadi, selain hemat energi, juga hemat air," kata Oka.
Lebih menarik lagi adalah pengendalinya tidak hanya lewat sensor pendeteksi kelembapan, namun bisa dengan menggunakan tombol ataupun dikontrol lewat smartphone pengguna. Hari Wahyudy, guru pembimbing, menjelaskan bahwa teknologi Singo Tangar telah diaplikasikan di greenhouse SMKN 1 Glagah dan mampu memompa air dengan debit 38 liter per menit. "Jadi kalau misalnya ini dipakai di Taman Blambangan (salah satu ruang terbuka hijau di Banyuwangi), saya kira butuh hanya satu alat ini," kata Hari. Selain Singo Tangar, ada penyiram tanaman tenaga surya berkapasitas lebih besar untuk sawah. Namanya Bagaskara.
"Bagaskara belum dilengkapi sensor, namun kerjanya bisa nonstop, misalnya sejak pukul 07.00 sampai 16.30, mengikuti luasan lahan pertanian. Pengendaliannya dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan timer yang ada pada sistem maupun kontrol dari gadget," kata Hari. Telah diujicobakan di lahan kedelai hitam di Kecamatan Purwoharjo, hasil Bagaskara ternyata sangat memuaskan petani karena mampu menghemat biaya bahan bakar genset untuk pompa air. "Jika pakai genset, petani keluar biaya Rp 150 ribu per hari. Namun dengan Bagaskara, nol rupiah karena memanfaatkan energi matahari," jelasnya.
